When I saw the hype around RobinHood NFT projects, I only saw quick, sloppy projects made for extraction. So basically, I banned fluo green from my sight pretty quickly.
But Gathi saw something on this project, so I started to dig it.
For months, a bunch of us have been running a French-speaking Normies group chat.
Just collectors and builders who ended up in the same rabbit hole, talking about floors, tools, and whatever weird thing someone found that week.
We are 15 members on it and try to contribute to each other’s culture and support good projects.
Gathi was the one who talked to us about this project but I didn’t mint. Not interested at first for the reasons above. But I obviously changed my mind and bought one secondary.
Ok @Gathi32 you are talking to our French Normies Curation Group about @OnChainHoodies for several days now...I read about it so here I am: this is my first NFT ever on @RobinhoodApp chain.
I’m a builder, both tech and content creator, that’s why I’m here.
I build things on top of NFT collections for useful purpose (and money too) in my spare time and I’m good at it, I’m not gonna lie about it.
For example, I created Normies Nexus, a holder-gated hub paired with a 3D explorable globe of the collection (Just a Normie World) and I won the Normies hackathon. It happened because Normies shipped a public API and just let people go wild with it.
So when I saw that this new project also has an open API and is “builder-friendly”… well, I documented myself on it.
Which is the real question of this article: is OnChainHoodies actually building the same kind of open surface that made me spend way too many nights on Normies Nexus, or is “builder API” just a slide in a deck?
So what is OnChainHoodies?
OnChainHoodies is a collection of 6,000 hand-drawn, fully onchain 1-bit characters, launched on Robinhood Chain. Not “onchain metadata with an IPFS image.” Fully onchain: traits, rendering, pixels, all of it lives in the smart contracts. No IPFS dependency at all.
The four archetypes baked into the collection are Builders, Collectors, Flippers, and HODLers. Which, if you have spent any time at all in NFTs, you will recognize immediately as, well… everyone you already know.
FILTER8, according to his own words, didn’t want to launch
another NFT collection.
He wanted something that belonged to Robinhood Chain from day one, as a cultural layer next to the financial infrastructure Robinhood is building but I have to tell that I know too little about RH at the moment.
I recognized the founder
Filter8 was (and still is) a holder of Booa and Normies before OnChainHoodies and he built several tools on the agentic layer.

I have said it before about Serc and Normies: I trust builders who were already in the trenches before their own launch, not anonymous accounts that appear out of nowhere with a roadmap and a Discord bot.
FILTER8’s previous projects back that up too. Retro Chonks, 8Punks, GB-Punks, all fully onchain, all CC0, all shipped before OnChainHoodies.
This is not someone’s first onchain rendering contract.
The numbers Mason, what do they mean?!
The mint sold out in about six minutes
Week one: 248.7 ETH total volume, 1,699 unique holders, floor at 0.0144 ETH.
Week two: 303.57 ETH, floor up to 0.0224 ETH, holders past 1,800.
Holders sitting around 2,000 to 2,018 depending on the exact snapshot.
I do not think the number itself is the interesting part.
The interesting part is what it took to verify it. I could not trust OpenSea’s holders page, it is rendered client-side and returned nothing but a stray ETH price when I tried to scrape it.
So I went to the project’s own API with /v1/holders and /v1/intelligence/holders endpoints instead, and got a real answer: top 10 wallets hold 1,051 items, about 17.5% of supply: not bad for a start!

The API
Within 24 hours of the API opening, a third-party app was already live.
It covers collection data, trait search, a leaderboard, wallet and holder lookups, market history (floor, sales, listings, deduped by trait), and a whole intelligence layer that benchmarks the collection against BAYC, Pudgy Penguins, CryptoPunks and Azuki (funny!)
There is even a wallet-overlap endpoint that tells you if a given address also holds one of those OG collections, useful and simple to do so… nice.
An open API does not just mean “look at our data.” It changes the question from “do you like this collection” to “what can you build with it.”
Hood Talk: giving the NFT its own “memory”
Two weeks in, the team shipped Hood Talk: every Hoodie can receive one new message every 24 hours, written by whoever holds it at the time. The history is attached to the token (not the wallet)
So if you sell your Hoodie, its “voice” goes with it, not with you.
It is a small mechanic, three short entries so far according to what I have seen, but it points at something bigger: those messages are onchain data now.
Which means they could become traits? So we are supposedly going to an agentic layer I guess.
I have seen this exact thing before, with Normies Awakening turning static faces into agents with memory and personality.
I am not saying OnChainHoodies is going there. I am saying the onchain messaging primitive is the same raw material that other projects have already turned into agents, and the fact that FILTER8 has apparently been building on agentic stuff elsewhere makes that speculation less random?

Did you bring your Passport?
The Hoodie Passport connects your wallet, sees what you hold, and calculates your eligibility for “Season 01” of the “Hood Economy” without requiring any transaction, noice.
The part that counts the most for the upcoming $OCH allocation is not how many Hoodies you own… it is engagement: tweets, likes, retweets, a verified Hood profile picture, etc.
Obvious UGC strategy, well executed, pretty classic for now. Promises of rewards if you are creating content around it. Ok.
Supposedly, it’s a meaningfully different incentive than most NFT “hold and earn” systems.
It rewards showing up, not just buying in and it makes sense, especially in a bear market!
So… $OCH: a token, again??
$OCH is planned as a fixed-supply ERC-20, 100 million tokens.
Allocation: 30% to Hoodie holders across three rounds over six months, 35% to a Community Fund split across three two-month seasons (front-loaded 15% in Season 01), 15% liquidity, 10% treasury, 5% to the Robinhood ecosystem, 5% team.
Here is the part I want to say, because the site itself says it plainly: the contract is not deployed yet.
The project’s own warning is to watch out for fake tokens circulating under the $OCH name.
So no, I cannot tell you what this token is actually worth or when it goes live so careful about that.
Beeple showed up, funny for RH project!
At some point Beeple featured OnChainHoodies in one of his own pieces.
It’s a real signal that the project reached outside its own bubble, not bad for a newcomer!

Robinhood Chain: young, volatile, and already a little chaotic
OnChainHoodies exists inside Robinhood Chain, a network that is exactly as chaotic as you would expect a brand new chain to be.
During the exact same weeks OnChainHoodies was climbing its holder count, Vlad Tenev’s own X account got compromised and used to push a fake token.
The community caught it fast… people still bought it anyway. Web3 am I right?
This is also, I think, the most important context for reading everything above.
OnChainHoodies is not competing against BAYC or Azuki in a mature market. It is trying to be the first credible cultural layer on a chain that is maybe three weeks old, launched by a fintech company known for stocks and options, not NFTs.
That is either a huge distribution advantage waiting to happen, or a very fragile foundation to build a whole economy on top of.
I genuinely do not know which yet, and I do not think anyone honestly does!

I also do not know if Hood Talk, the Passport, and the agentic speculation around them will actually turn into something, or stay a nice feature nobody uses after the first month.
I have watched enough NFT roadmaps evaporate to not take “soon” at face value anymore.
Not because the floor moved. Not because Beeple posted about it once. Because within days of minting out, this project shipped a real, public, documented API, and someone outside the team built on it within 24 hours.
That is the same signal that got me into Normies, and it is the same signal that turned into a hackathon win for me personally.
I do know that a builder-first API is the raw material those things are made of, not a nice-to-have on top.
